ImpactAssets Opens Applications for the 2018 IA 50
Leading impact investing resource builds awareness of impact fund managers; Selection committee includes Jed Emerson, Charly Kleissner, Fran Seegull and other impact experts.
BETHESDA, MD, October 17, 2017 — ImpactAssets is now accepting applications for the ImpactAssets 50 (“IA 50”), a free online resource that provides investors and financial advisors with detailed information about 50 of the most experienced impact investment firms and potential investment options.
The deadline to apply is December 1, 2017. Fund managers with more than three years of experience in impact investing and at least $10 million in assets under management can apply on the ImpactAssets website.
The IA 50, used by more than 150,000 investors to evaluate leading impact investors, has become something akin to The Good Housekeeping Stamp of approval for deep impact funds. In 2016, ImpactAssets saw the largest number of applications from fund managers ever, reflecting the rapid growth and interest in impact investing.
“As impact investing has moved into the mainstream, the IA 50 has shone a light on those funds that are truly creating measurable social, environmental and financial returns,” said IA 50 Review Committee Chair Jed Emerson, Senior Fellow, ImpactAssets. “I am excited to work with my colleagues to discover more great managers who are bringing impact to key issues such as health and wellness, microfinance, small business development, sustainable agriculture, and water and sanitation.”

In addition to Emerson, this year’s IA 50 Review Committee includes Jennifer Kenning, Senior Advisor, IA 50 Review Committee, Managing Director, Align Impact; Fran Seegull, Executive Director, U.S. Impact Investing Alliance, Ford Foundation; Karl "Charly" Kleissner, Co-Founder, Toniic, Co-Founder, KL Felicitas; Kathy Leonard, First Vice President of Investments and Senior Portfolio Manager, UBS; Stephanie Cohn Rupp, Managing Director, The Threshold Group; Liesel Pritzker Simmons and Ian Simmons, Co-Founders and Principals, Blue Haven Initiative; and Matthew Weatherley-White, Managing Director, The CAPROCK Group.

The IA 50 Review Committee will evaluate a diverse set of firms with experience in the field, scale in terms of assets under management and investor base and a commitment to impact and representing. The IA 50 is intended to illustrate the breadth of impact investment fund managers operating today, though it is not a comprehensive list. These 50 firms have been selected to demonstrate a wide range of impact investing activities across geographies, sectors and asset classes.
